Auguste Clape – Cornas 2018 is a great Syrah from one of the most legendary producers in the northern Rhône. The wine comes from old vines on the best sites in Cornas and is vinified according to strict traditional methods – spontaneously fermented, aged in old foudres, and without modern intervention.
The 2018 vintage is powerful and dense, with aromas of dark berries, olives, pepper, leather, and smoky rock. On the palate, the wine is intense, taut, and robust, with youthful tannins, cool minerality, and impressive depth. A Cornas for long aging, yet more approachable than some of the more taut vintages before it.
Ideal for lovers of classic, long-aging Syrah with provenance, substance, and energy. Drinkable now with aeration, ideal until at least 2040+.
