Auguste Clape – Cornas Renaissance 2016 is a classic Syrah from younger vineyards and selected sites below the top Cornas parcels. This cuvée is also vinified uncompromisingly traditionally at Clape – spontaneously fermented, aged in large oak barrels, and without modern cellar technology.

The 2016 vintage is focused and fresh, with aromas of black currants, pepper, olives, lavender, and smoky stone. On the palate, the wine is taut, deep, and sparsely mineral, with high internal tension, prominent tannins, and excellent ageing potential. Renaissance displays more nobility here than in warmer years—a true highlight.

Ideal for lovers of purist Rhône-Syrah with provenance, structure, and clear aging potential. Accessible now with air, ideal until at least 2035+.
