Domaine Gonon – Saint-Joseph 2018 is a classic Syrah from the northern Rhône, vinified by the legendary Gonon family in Mauves. The vines grow on barren granite soils and are farmed organically. Spontaneous fermentation, aging in large old barrels, and no technical intervention – a prime example of natural Rhône wine.
The 2018 vintage presents ripe fruit with notes of dark berries, violets, olives, pepper, and a hint of smoke. On the palate, the wine is juicy, open, and powerful, with a present structure, fine tannins, and mineral depth. An approachable yet complex Saint-Joseph with ageing potential.
