Fèlsina – Rancia Chianti Classico Riserva 2015 is a single-varietal Sangiovese from the historic Rancia vineyard in Castelnuovo Berardenga – one of Tuscany's most renowned Riserva bottlings. The vineyard is situated at an elevated altitude on barren limestone soil, which gives the wine its characteristic depth, elegance, and structure. Aging takes place for approximately 18 months in mostly used barriques.
The 2015 vintage is one of the best of the last decade: The nose reveals aromas of ripe cherries, dried herbs, cedarwood, tobacco, and a hint of leather. On the palate, the wine is powerful, yet precise and fresh, with a firm tannin structure, lively acidity, and a long, spicy finish.
