Jules Desjourneys – Mâcon-Fuissé 'Bois de la Croix' 2019 is a highly precise Chardonnay from a single vineyard in southern Burgundy, vinified by Fabien Duperray – one of France's most uncompromising winemakers. The plot is located on limestone-rich soils above Fuissé and is farmed biodynamically. Aging takes place without batonnage in used wooden barrels – in the style of great Burgundy wines.
The 2019 vintage displays aromas of citrus fruit, white flowers, almonds, wet stone, and subtle reduction. On the palate, the wine is taut, silky, and deeply mineral, with fine acidity, restrained fruit, and a long, sparse finish. Not a pleasing Mâcon—but an uncompromising expression of terroir.
