Jules Desjourneys – Mâcon-Fuissé Bois de la Croix 2020 is a single-varietal Chardonnay from high-altitude limestone and clay soils in Fuissé. Winemaker Fabien Duperray , known for his uncompromising work in the vineyard and cellar, is one of the most exciting voices in southern Burgundy. His wines are produced biodynamically, with extremely low yields and a clear focus on expression and terroir. Aging follows the traditional method of oak, with extended lees aging, which imparts structure and complexity.
The nose reveals aromas of ripe pear, white peach, and citrus, complemented by hints of hazelnut, vanilla, and chalky minerality. On the palate, the wine is powerful and concentrated, yet precise and elegant. A fresh, taut acidity carries the long, saline, mineral finish.
Bois de la Croix 2020 is an exceptional representative of its appellation—significantly more structured and long-lasting than many Mâcon wines. Already harmonious, it also has potential for further aging for 8–10 years.
