Jules Desjourneys – Mâcon-Verzé Blanc 2019 comes from high-altitude vineyards with limestone-rich soils around Verzé in southern Burgundy. Winemaker Fabien Duperray , known for his uncompromising biodynamic approach and extremely low yields, is one of the most fascinating producers in the Mâconnais. His wines excel at precision, expression, and exceptional density, far exceeding the region's usual standards. The wines are aged gently in oak barrels with extended lees aging to enhance complexity and structure.
On the nose, the wine displays a clear spectrum of aromas of citrus fruit, green apple, and white peach, complemented by delicate floral notes, hazelnut, and a mineral note of chalk. On the palate, it presents itself taut and concentrated, with lively acidity, saline tension, and a long, precise finish.
Mâcon-Verzé Blanc 2019 is an impressive expression of the terroir—both powerful and elegant. While already enjoyable today, it will develop additional depth and complexity over the next 6–8 years.
